PHILADELPHIA -- With one errant stick to the face, Teemu Selanne went down in a heap, losing teeth and blood. Chase Edmonds Jersey . Just not the game. Kyle Palmieri scored two straight goals in the third period to rally the Anaheim Ducks past the Philadelphia Flyers 3-2 on Tuesday night. Andrew Cogliano also scored for the Ducks and Jonas Hiller had 26 saves. "We were able to start to get it going in the second and then poured it on them in the third," Palmieri said. The Ducks won it without Selanne, in his 22nd season, on the ice after he took Luke Schenns high stick to the face. Selanne went down on the corner ice, then skated off on his own power straight to the locker room. His mouth was bloody and swollen, and the Ducks had no idea if hed miss any games. They play again Thursday at Boston. The Ducks hope for a quick return. "Hes a great athlete and a great person, just great to have around," defenceman Hampus Lindholm said. Palmieri scored on a tip-in with 4:09 left in the game to help the Ducks win their third straight game. He also scored the tying goal early in the period. Hiller and the Ducks killed one final Philadelphia power play that extended into the final minute to hang on for the win. Matt Read and Vinny Lecavalier scored for the Flyers. The Ducks answered an early 2-0 deficit with three straight goals to get their latest road win. The Ducks improved to 3-2 on their eight-game road trip, with games at Boston, Buffalo and the New York Rangers still ahead. "Its big for us to start to link together these wins," Palmieri said. "Especially on the road, its huge." Palmieri tied the game when he stripped Lecavalier of the puck and knocked it through Steve Masons legs to make it 2-2. "I was able to get in front of it and keep him in front of me and the puck took a nice bounce for me," Palmieri said. "I was able to get down to the races." He converted a perfect pass in the slot from centre Nick Bonino to score the winner. The Ducks outworked and outhustled a Flyers team that showed little spark until the final power play. They pulled Mason for the 6-on-4 edge and still couldnt get the score. "I think we didnt have the effort we needed to close out the game," Mason said. Cogliano cut it to 2-1 in the second period when a fortuitous bounce off the backboards hit his stick at the right time to poke one past a stunned Mason. Mason had 34 saves. Read gave the Flyers a 1-0 lead when his first shot came straight off Hillers pads and back to him, allowing him to punch it in for his third goal in three games. Lecavaliers fifth of the season, this one on the power play, made it 2-0. Lecavalier was coming off a three-goal performance in Philadelphias 5-2 win over the New York Islanders on Saturday night. The Flyers went the first nine games without scoring more than three goals, and they hoped to build off Saturdays outburst. Instead, it was back to the scoring drought, and a dearth of opportunities. They attempted 15 shots in the first period, and only 13 more the rest of the way. They had no response to Anaheims attack in the third -- the Ducks at one point had outshot them 13-3 and finished with a 16-6 edge. "We stood around and we were watching," Flyers forward Wayne Simmonds said. "Thats all I can really say. We stood and around and started watching them instead of playing ourselves." They caught a break when Mathieu Perreaults goal was waved off upon review because of a high stick, an expected call after he pretty much bunted the puck into the net. Notes: The two teams played each other for the first time since 2011 and the first time they played in Philadelphia since Oct. 21, 2010. ... The Flyers 28 shots matched their per-game average, which was 25th in the league. ... The Ducks won for the 10th time in 12 games. ... Flyers F Claude Giroux has at least one assist in five of his past six games. Hes yet to score a goal. Arizona Cardinals Jerseys . The 41-year-old Northern Irishman has proved a perfect fit at Liverpool since taking over from Kenny Dalglish in the summer of 2012 and steered the team to an unexpected title challenge in the Premier League last season. The 28-year-old lefty made his MLB debut in 2013, making 10 starts and going 2-5 with 4.05 ERA and 1.18 WHIP. Albers was named the Twins organizations minor league pitcher of the year for 2013.TORONTO – The Blue Jays took a kidney punch on Friday night and needed less than 24 hours to deliver a counter blow to the Tigers, setting up a Sunday afternoon rubber match between one-time rivals that find themselves in the throes of different playoff races. The Jays responded to the three-spot Detroit placed on Casey Janssen the evening before with an attack on the Tigers Achilles Heel, its bullpen, tying the game in the ninth and winning the game in the 10th. The result absolved Marcus Stroman, brilliant once again, of a tough luck loss while at the same time robbing Max Scherzer, brilliant once again, of a deserved win. Funny enough, it was manager John Gibbons musing to assembled media before Saturdays game that his club hadnt yet found the "magic" of a gap, extra-base hit to walk off a game at home this season. So it was appropriate when the skipper ambled into his post-game press conference with vice-president of communications Jay Stenhouse in tow, blaring the Lovin Spoonfuls "Do You Believe in Magic" from his mobile phone. Nolan Reimold, a waiver pick up from Baltimore, hit a gap shot to score Danny Valencia, a trade acquisition from Kansas City, in the 10th. "Usually you see in the first couple of weeks, when they get some place, they do something big," said Gibbons. "Its just kind of the way it happens with new faces and they both did." The victory is important to the Blue Jays as the club weeds its way through a cluttered wild card picture and tries to remain relevant in the hunt for the American League East crown. Its important because Scherzer is the first of three consecutive Cy Young Award winners Toronto will face (David Price on Sunday; Felix Hernandez on Monday). Its important because the Jays starting rotation, which refuses to fall apart despite evidence that it should, continues to get the job done on more nights than not. After J.A. Happ took a loss despite throwing eight innings of two-run baseball on Thursday and R.A. Dickey stood to win after allowing two runs in six innings on Friday, the club couldnt continue to waste fortuitous efforts. Stroman was electric. His only blemish in nnine innings was a two-out, two-run rally in the sixth. Mason Cole Cardinals Jersey. . He didnt have his strikeout game on Saturday but instead relied on the groundball, getting 14 of his 27 outs that way and darn near wearing out Munenori Kawasaki over at third base. "My sinker was really good today, probably a lot better than my four-seam command," said Stroman. "I commanded it to both sides of the plate and got a lot of groundball outs with it." As impressive a part of Stromans strong beginning to his big league career is his ability to bounce back after a rough start. His three worst starts came on June 17 in New York (3 2/3 innings, two earned runs), July 9 in Anaheim (3 2/3 innings, five earned runs) and August 3 in Houston (three innings, five earned runs). In the three starts that followed, including Saturday, Stromans pitched a combined 24 innings and allowed only three earned runs (1.13 ERA). CURIOUS MOVE Tigers manager Brad Ausmus has a better understanding of his personnel than someone who sees the club only six times in the regular season but it was an odd decision to lift Max Scherzer from Saturdays game. Scherzer left after eight innings with a 2-1 lead. Hed held the Jays to just four hits, striking out 11 and walking none. Hed thrown 106 pitches and had shown no signs of tiring. Ausmus elected to send out closer Joe Nathan for the ninth. He coughed up the tying run and left with the bases loaded with one out. Joakim Soria came in to clean up the mess but the Jays got the last laugh when Reimold walked off Joba Chamberlain in the 10th. ENCARNACION TO BEGIN REHAB ASSIGNMENT Injured slugger Edwin Encarnacion was to be in Single-A Dunedins lineup for its Saturday night game against the Tampa Yankees. Encarnacion was hurt on July 5 in Oakland. He suffered a Grade-2 strain of his right quadriceps. Despite missing five weeks, his 26 home runs had Encarnacion tied for fourth-most in baseball entering Saturdays action. In 88 games this season, Encarnacion is hitting .277/.368/.591 with career bests in OPS (.959) and OPS+ (160). He is expected to return to the Blue Jays on the upcoming road trip, either in Seattle or next weekend in Chicago.
